Paper-to-CAD Conversion

We offer two types of CAD conversion service, each with the same quality and accuracy and fast turnaround: FullCAD™ and CustomCAD™.  Each is ideal for certain types of projects, as explained below:

FullCAD™  -  Very Low Cost and the Highest Quality

Overview

We create your drawings using our highly-experienced and productive CAD drafters, line-by-line and word-by-word.  Nothing is overlooked.  You get very high-quality CAD files that are as good as or better than the originals.  You don't have to compromise quality to get a good price.  Yes, you could do it in-house, but it would take much longer and cost much more than letting the specialists at Vectorex take care of it.

Standard CAD Specs

With the Vectorex FullCAD™ service we use the standard CAD specifications that most customers want which allow you to get the very best at a lower cost per sheet.  Our standardized approach gives you consistent results and up-front pricing so you don't have to wait for a quotation.   You will know exactly what the cost will be before placing your order.  With FullCAD™ you get:

·        Dimensional accuracy - we match the dimensions shown on the drawing.  Dimensions shown on the original are included in the CAD file.

·        Scale - we match the dimensions, if they are shown.  If they are not shown then we match the original print scale or raster image.

·        Text - 100% accurate and consistent text.

·        QC - each CAD file is completely checked using our QC procedures for guaranteed quality and accuracy.

·        Titleblock - we insert a standard titleblock with basic information to identify the drawing which you can either keep or replace with your own.

·        Areas drawn - we draw everything shown on the drawing except for the titleblock & border areas, signatures, approval stamps, crossed-out text, and crossed-out views.  By eliminating these areas (which many customers don't want anyway) we can keep your costs as low as possible.

·        Layers - we use standard layers (such as AIA) for clear separation of information. 

·        Linetypes, blocks, hatching  - we add these to exactly match the original.

When To Use FullCAD™

The great majority of drawings will easily fit into the scope of the FullCAD™ service.  The per-sheet pricing has been set after many years and experience with many thousands of drawings.  We know how many labor hours should go into a typical drawing.  However, some drawings and project requirements don’t quite fit into the FullCAD™ service.   These are: oversize sheets, extra complex or dense drawings, maps (like topographic), and projects that involve more than just converting what is on the drawing.  For these situations we offer our CustomCAD™ service.

CustomCAD™  -  All Your Specifications with Ultimate Quality

Overview

This is the same ultra-high quality service as FullCAD™.  As the name indicates, CustomCAD™ is used when the project doesn't quite fit into the standard specifications of FullCAD™.  Using CustomCAD™ we can tailor the job to your exact specifications, and process any type or complexity of drawings.

Anything You Want!

·        We follow your exact specifications, from layers and text to symbols, titleblock, scale, hatching, custom linetypes, viewports, x-refs, z-values, polygon layers, attributed blocks, and much more!

·        No drawing is too complex or too dense.

·        As-builts, sketches, markups, pasteups and oversized sheets are no problem!

·        You can supply field notes and we can incorporate the data into the CAD files.

·        We can merge separate sheets into a single CAD file, with edge-to-edge matching or overlays.

·        We can publish your drawings to a website for vendors, customers or colleagues to use.

When to Use CustomCAD™

When you have topo maps, or very dense drawings, or oversize sheets, or special requirements that wouldn’t be met using FullCAD™ then you would use the CustomCAD™ service.   Also, you may have drawings with only certain areas or types of objects that you need in CAD (such as only the geometry – omit the text).

Offsite CAD Production

You may have an ongoing need for CAD production support.  It may be a large project that will take months to complete.  Or it may be a steady flow of drawings to be created.  Perhaps you don’t want to hire more in-house staff for a temporary project, and then try to find workstations, desks and floor space for them, only to reduce headcount after the project is completed.

Vectorex is your on-call CAD production department.  Our offsite capability gives you the flexibility to add substantial resources without the headaches and delays of new hires or on-site temps.  You save money by avoiding having to buy new equipment and furniture.  You save time by getting the CAD production you need without recruiting, interviewing, and going through the hiring process – or the termination process after completion.
